In mid-2006 just a few people ...
... met one Wednesday night for a pizza.
We decided that, being mid-week, Wednesdays are a great night to just
'get out and socialise' and, as Wednesdays seemed to be so convenient
for most people, we agreed that we'd meet every week.
So - the 'I can't do without my mid-week pizza'
weekly event was created.
As time went on, more people found out about it and the numbers of
regular attendees grew from 5 ... 10 ... 20 ... and 'Ultimately'
the number of people who join us on a regular basis increased.
... until before long between 25-35 people attended every week -
with occasionally over 40-80 people attending ... and the numbers
appear to be increasing as word gets around!
Around the same time - the ownership of the restaurant we went to changed and
it's menu became much more 'varied' with a wider selection of foods to enjoy -
so 'pizza night' became misleading.
And ...by default, the night had 'matured' into the
'Ultimate Social Event' for 'Good Fun and Good Socialising'
And as people returned and got to know each
other better, friendships were made.
'Social networking' happened and the requirement for a more structured
system was needed to manage a 'calendar' for the increasing number
of social events that were being arranged.
About the same time - the Meetup.com internet based
'social networking system' was discovered and
NotaClub's name is designed to illustrate that NotaClub is a social 'community'
that's 'run' by the people who freely participate in it's activities - and not by any
individual or business for financial reward or profit.
Participation in NotaClub's activities
will always be FREE
